Hi- Just looking for opinions on which you feel is better to do-just bought a new camcorder this year, and would hate to have it ';disappear'; out of our luggage. It%26#39;s okay to bring it in my carry on bag right? thanks-
Do you pack camcorder %26amp; cameras in luggage or carry on??
I%26#39;ve always taken my camcorder in my carry on.
I would never pack it in my checked baggage, it%26#39;s much too fragile!

Hi,
My hand luggage (carry on ) has always consisted of a bag with my camcorder and digital camera in, never had any problems. I would not consider putting a camera in my hold luggage.
Ste
Ditto, it%26#39;s too fragile and valuable to be left in someone elses hands. Stills camera I keep with me. Have taken some great shots of KSC from the air.
are you allowed to use your camera on the plane? dont see why not but always better to ask
Thanks! I%26#39;ll bring it on the plane with us-better safe than sorry!!
I did ask and was told not to during take-off, though no explanation was offered and I was obviously happy to comply. I was given the same instructions regarding an mp3 player.
I think it%26#39;s more policy than any real threat to the plane%26#39;s electrics. Maybe some boffin out there can explain....
It%26#39;s not that technical. Some passengers freak out if there are flashes during take-off. And the MP3 player (or any other equipment involving headphones) cannot be used just in case there are any important announcements, like ';the engines have all failed, brace for impact';...that sort of thing.
No cameras during take off is because you cannot use ANY battery operated equipment during take off or landing.
This message was given out very clearly on my recent flight back from Reus, but the man over the isle from me though it didn%26#39;t apply to him and he was viewing his pictures on his Nokia while we were waiting to take off.
Being a very nervous passenger, I had to get the flight attendant%26#39;s attention, and she told him to switch it off. The man obliged when he was told, but it amazes me how people think they can ignore these instructions, which are given out very clearly, and are for the safety of all passengers and crew.
Personally, I take the battery out of my mobile phone when I fly, just so I know it is DEFINATELY DEFINATELY switched off! (otherwise I keep checking it).
Also, most but not all aircraft are fly by wire systems. ( All airbus models, and the newer versions of Boeing.)
Things like mobile phones transmit powerful electronic signals.
If your were to be sitting close to a wiring loom and using your Mobil you could send signals down the wiring loom to the control surfaces of the aircraft.
This could prove fatal on take off and landing.
But I dont see why a camera would present a problem particularly if the flash is switched off.
Although i do see a problem if was a mobile phone taking pictures,
I suppose its best and easiest just to have blanket ban
Absolutely never put anything valuable-like a camcorder-in your checked luggage. Or prescription medication or cash or jewelry. Why ask for trouble?
