Who has been to WDW in May?

Thinking about going to Disney in May and wondering what to expect as far as crowds and weather. I know it will be hot but will it be unbearable the first week of May. Main concern is the crowds. Thanks!

May is a great time to go to Florida. We always travel in May and it is hot, but not unbearable, high 80%26#39;s. 1st week is usually better than the end of May, which is very hot -- 90%26#39;s. It is a good time to go to Disney. Arrive early, as soon as the parks open, the lines are not long at all in the morning. The more popular rides get longer lines in the afternoon, but if you use Fast Pass, you won%26#39;t wait much at all. We%26#39;re headed there next May 10th. Restaurants get crowded at lunch and dinner, so eat at off times, and if you want to do a character meal, book it as soon as you can!

May is a great time to come to Disney. The beginning of May is better than the end. I would not recommend visiting the week of Memorial Day.

Get to the parks early and use the Fast Passes.

Went this past May 4-10 (I think)....and would do it again. I think it was a great time to go. Crowds were not bad at all. Walked on some rides while some had a ten minute wait.

The week we were there the weather was great. It averaged about 78-82 degrees. Comfortable to walk around the parks but yet warm enough to swim. We usually went to the park, came back to swim and then went back to the park in the evenings. Even the temps in evenings were great. I think they were in the upper 60%26#39;s to low 70%26#39;s. No jacket needed. However, the day we were leaving they were expecting the temps to up to well in the 90%26#39;s. I guess it%26#39;s a crapshoot with the weather but the crowds were definately fine.

we went beginnin of May, great time to go .. the parks had very little queing, which is the best reason to go, but the parks were still averagly packed to have atmophere.

We have gone first week of May many times, Love it, Low crowds, compared to Easter, Summer or Christmas week, that%26#39;s for sure. You will be there for Epcots International Flower and Garden Festival, wonderful and beautiful. I think it%26#39;s a very good time to go. This was the first year in a long time we didn%26#39;t go in May, hmmm, you%26#39;ve got me thinking now about next year. Thanks !

The weather, altho no one can predict next year, should be alot better than June, July or August. I say go for it.

Happy Planning

We were there in late May / early June this year and the weather was absolutely lovely. Early May shouldn%26#39;t have bad crowds at all.

The weather in early May is absolutely lovely. Schools usually don%26#39;t get out until mid or end of May so you are unlikely to find the parks crowded during the last few weeks of the school year.

Another great time to come to Florida is during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas when most folks have already traveled or plan to travel soon and don%26#39;t have time or budget for a Disney trip right in the middle and before a major holiday. Some of our best vacations have been during the fall between Thxg and Xmas.

The weather in the fall is usually cool - often crisp, and occasionally not suitable for swimming but there are plenty of other things to do!

Thanks for the input. We might try October another year but this year we will have a one month old so that will not be happening. Also thinking about what to do if you arrive in Orlando at noon. Thinking we will probably drive down on a Saturday. Should we go to a park or hang out at the pool and wait and go to a park the next morning?

i visited last year in may and loved it. i%26#39;ll be going again next year same time to.

Hi AMD3,

We were there April 30 to May 5th this year. It was hot and humid but not unbearable. We bought the waterpark pass, so we would go to the parks until about 2pm and then hit the waterparks or hotel pool to cool off. It was a nice time to go because it was not overly busy. We had a wait for somethings but for Soarin at Epcot I think we waited 10min, the second time it was busier and we waited maybe 30min. Pirates we waited maybe 20min. These were the busiest rides though and other rides we just walked right on and were seated.

On your day of arrival if you are staying at a Disney hotel especially one on the monorail I would say go to the parks. If you are staying off Disney then hang at the hotel pool because by the time you get settled then get to Disney, pay for parking etc. etc. the bulk of your afternoon will be gone. We arrived at the Polynesian at about 4pm then went to MGM, did a couple of attractions and then made our 6pm dinner reservations at Mama Melroses.
