Discovery Space Shuttle Launch 20th Oct

Hi,

Discovery%26#39;s planned to launch from Kennedy Space Center on this date and I%26#39;d love to see it.

I assume anyone can turn up and watch the launch from designated areas, or are tickets required? Where are the viewing areas and how long would it take to get there from Orlando?

What time of day does the launch typically take place?

How many hours do you need to allow for the whole event?

Attached is the launch schedule. October is currently scheduled for around 1 in the afternoon. It%26#39;s rare for the shuttle to go up on the first try but it could happen. It did for the June launch.

You can go to Jetty Park to see the launch or US1 but I%26#39;m not sure where you can hang out there. The crowds start gathering there hours ahead and plan to spend hours getting back. Traffic backs up terribly. Typically the coast is about an hour from the Disney area but not on launch day.
