Honeymoon Question

I am getting married in May 2007 and I am looking for the best deal on a great place for our honeymoon. One of the main reasons I want to come to Panama is for the beach and to relax.

Here are the things we are looking for:

continental breakfast

PRIVATE hot tub on a balcony or outside (even on the roof!)

hammock

honeymoon packages

not too expensive

located on the beach! Which beaches are the best?

We will be staying for a week, thank you for any help!

Honeymoon Question

godsrainbow.......I have been going to PCB for 24 yrs and honestly, I don%26#39;t know of any resorts that have a hot tub on the balcony. Of course most of them have hot tubs by the pools but none are private that I know of. Nor do I know of any that offer hammocks.

Personally I think the entire beach area of PCB is fantastic but I think I might be a bit biased! For a ctl bkft, you%26#39;d have to stay in a hotel and so many of them are closing due to condos. Someone else may know more about that than I do.

From what you posted, it sounds to me like your looking for a honeymoon destination such as Cancun or maybe one of the Sandals proeprties either in Jamaica, Bahamas or St Lucia. Of course Sandals and ';inexpensive'; do not belong in the same sentence!! ;%26gt;)

What is your budget? May I suggest contacting a travel agent and talking to them. Depending on your airfare, you could probably get an All Inclusive pacakge at a VERY nice resort in Cancun for $2800 - $3200. This would include your round trip air, transfers from the airport to the resort, all your meals, drinks (including liquor) tips, taxes, most non motorized sports and in some cases sightseeing tours. The nice thing about this, you could go ahead and put a deposit down, and then pay a little at a time. As long as it%26#39;s paid 45 days before departure, you%26#39;re good. The Aventura Spa Palace and Moon Palace, offer rooms w/private balconies either in the room or out on what is like a balcony. When the Sun, Beach and Cancun Palaces reopen in December (closed due to Hurricane Wilma) they will have balconies too.

Hope this helps a little. If you need any other info, please post here. I%26#39;m a travel agent and specialize in honeymoons including cruises and all inclusives Caribbean resorts. I%26#39;m also a Certified Sandals Specialist so maybe I can help a little. you might also check the Cancun thread on Trip Advisor and see what you think.

Good Luck!!

Honeymoon Question

I have been going to PCB for 37 years and there IS one with a hot tub on the balcony. I am trying to remember which one it is. It is expensive but not a new one. When I find out I will post the name.

I am certain there is one there tho and it is very nice.

Okay, I found out. Sorry had to look it up, and I knew i Had a book here about it.. Hidden Dunes has the jacuzzi on the balcony In panama city beach fl. Heres the link: Its very nice, and sometimes you can get a better deal through vrbo if you rent from an owner instead of the website!

PS, here is a link to one of their balconies with a beautiful view, and you can see the jacuzzi over in the far corner.

I would much rather want to go to Panama city beach than out to the carribean on my honeymoon! ; )

I DID go to PCB on my honeymoon 24 yrs ago!! BUT if I had the money I would have gone to Cancun, Mexico or anywhere in the Caribbean instead! I love PCB but for a honeymoon, you want to go somewhere special that you can%26#39;t go to anytime.

Good to know about Hidden Dunes. Did not know that! Thanks for sharing!!

Karen

wow THAT was a long time ago.. I went on my honeymoon to PCB also when I was 22. That was not quite as long ago as yours, but, I have been going to Panama city beach all my life when I went and also wanted to go there on my honeymoon. What better place to spend a honeymoon? And, it is more beautiful today than ever.

I wouldn%26#39;t feel safe in this day and time out of the states. ESPECIALLY THERE!

I agree, PCB is as wonderful as it has always been. We love going there as a family. BUT I have to say I am more comfortable and safer in Cancun than I am in some areas of Nashville, Birmingham and certainly Chicago or NYC!!

Riggggggggght. And, if something happens you can rest assured your loved one will be looked for, right? ; )

Also, let me say, I think it is very disrespectful for you to try to push your job on this woman who is about to become married, and obviously wants to go to panama city beach florida on her honeymoon. You are treating her like she is 10 and can%26#39;t make a choice on where she wants to spend her honeymoon.. She asked for advice on panama city beach, not out of this country.. Why don%26#39;t you quit telling her pcb is not a place for honeymooners. I have been to the Islands you speak of and I didn%26#39;t like it. I didn%26#39;t feel at home, and everything was outrageously expensive. There weren%26#39;t near as many good seafood resturaunts as pcb and the beach wasn%26#39;t as pretty.. I could understand if she asked for advice on where you are pushing, but she didn%26#39;t.

Boysofsummer....I am sorry you feel that I was pushing my job or Cancun on the OP. It was not that way at all. Actually I went to PCB on my honeymoon 24 yrs ago and loved it...Loved it so much we bought our condo and continue to go almost every summer since then w/our 4 children and occasionally my parents, my in-laws and other friends. So obviously I LOVE PCB. After we spent 5 days on the sugar sands of PCB, we went to Louisville KY for the KY Derby and spent 2 days there.

If you will read her post again she said that she is asking for suggestions of a good beach, something w/a ctl bkft, PRIVATE hot tub on the balcony, hammocks, honeymoon pkgs and wanted to know what beaches were the best. In my opinion (and we all have a right to express those) she was describing many resorts in Cancun, Jamaica, Bahamas and other Caribbean destinations. By stating she wanted hammocks, I immediately thought of Sandals properties that offer hammocks by the beach under trees or on your private balcony or terrace. By mentioning private Jacuzzis on the balcony or rooftop, I thought of The Palace Resorts in Cancun, Playa del Carman and the Mayan Riveria. Considering the fact that I was not aware of any resorts that have private jacuzzis on the balconies, or hammocks and so called honeymoon packages, I was giving her information I did know about. Until you mentioned Hidden Dunes, I didn%26#39;t know about the private jacuzzi. You will also notice in my post that I told her I wasnt%26#39; aware of any but someone else may know about one. You will also notice that I did not then nor have I ever said ';contact me'; or left any way for anyone to reach me!! Altho I do packages for folks in other states, I respect this forum and other people%26#39;s opinions enough not to slam someone when they are simply answering a question or to push my agency.

If you will check out some of the other threads such as Cancun, Key West, Disney and a few others you will see that I have made posts that say ';contact your LOCAL travel agent for suggestions and help.'; I don%26#39;t think I have EVER said CONTACT ME!

As far as the security and safety goes, I have been to beaches in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Jamaica, Puerto Rico (lots of areas there) and the Keys and never been approached rudely. On the other hand, I have been on beaches in PCB and have had men follow me down the beach, whistle, offer me a beer, or make ugly comments. In most cases a simple ';no thanks'; has worked but there have been a few cases where I%26#39;ve had to get down right ugly and rude before they%26#39;d go away and leave me alone. Again, I say, this has NEVER been my experience in any of my Caribbean or Mexico travels.

Again, my reply to Godsrainbow was a matter of me expressing my own personal opinion of what she was asking for. Oh, and BTW, I also sell condos and hotels in PCB, Gulf Shores, Destin and other Emerald Coast destinations, not just Caribbean Destinations, Hawaii, Europe, Alaska and cruises.

I wish you a pleasant day.
