Need hotel recommendations..mod. upcale and good location.

Hi,

My family of four, 2 teenage kids and husband and I are interested in traveling to Key West for a long weekend.

Can you recommend a hotel that is moderately upscale and located right in the heart of the tourist attractions......this will be our families%26#39; first time to Key West. Would like to stay in the mid $200s a night.

Thanks,

Lot%26#39;s of choices depending on when your visit occurs. We%26#39;re out of high season so there%26#39;s many deals down here that could get you what you%26#39;d like for even less than your mid-$200 range. On the other hand, staying with your mid-$200 range should get you an even more upscale property than anticipated. (Of course, your price range in say.... February might have you staying in a refrigerator box under the Cow Key Channel bridge.) :-)

Upscale in the location you want Ocean Key, Westin, Hyatt Beach Club, Pier House. Less upscale but Key West feel and good for kids try Island City House its an Inn.

Hyatt is a great choice or the Island City House which is more of a B%26amp;B. But like mentioned.....it really depends on the time of year you are coming down. Prices really vary. There was just an article in todays paper that mentions KW has the third highest average hotel rates in the Country. I posted the article on another thread.

Do you need two rooms or will two, e.g., queen-sized beds be good enough?

one small correction: the two Hyatts in prime locations are the Hyatt Resort and Marina on Front Street (next to the Pier House), and the Hyatt Sunset Harbor, a timeshare just down from Mallory Square. The Hyatt Beachside is the one at the entrance to Key West.

Hi all......thanks so much for responding so thoroughly. I apologize for not giving you our dates of arrival. Yes, we will be coming either the end of June or sometime in July.

If you know of some great summer rates at the hotels mentioned please let me know. I have checked some of the hotles you mentioned on Expedia and the pricing is still in the $300 dollar range per night for the end of June and into July. Maybe I should call the hotels directly and ask for better pricing?

Thanks,

Did you try the Island City House?

Hi Arnie,

Yes I tried Island City house......seems like a cute place, if possible would prefer a larger hotel with a few more amenities. Checked with the Westin, rates range from a low of $211 to over $600 depending on the time of arrival and their occupancy rate. Called the Hyatt and they have major renovations going on and the reservationist honestly told me there is jackhammering and sawing going on 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm. Guess the Hyatt won%26#39;t work for us. If we can go during the week, the Westing seems like a great choice!

thanks for all the suggestions so far.

The Westin will probably be your best bet so I would go for that. It has what you are looking for plus the location is great.

Loved the Westin, great hotel, great location. Not cheap, but off season might be in your price range, not sure.
