We have two children 9 and 11 and are brining bikes and will have our own car. Will this be a good location for us? We can not afford the beach villas.
Any suggestions for day trips?
Any suggestions for biking?
thank you so much!
South Seas - Bayside Village?
Bayside Villas I don%26#39;t know at all, but the location is great for bay views. I often stay in the village bayside not far from there.
Day trips - I favor boat trips on Captiva Cruises. One to Cayo Costa for shelling and one to Boca Grande where you can rent a golf cart and tool around the island. They only accept reservations one week in advance and run a limited schedule www.captivacruises.com Also Sealife Adventure on the Miss Paradise out of Punta Rassa just over the causeway. www.adventureinparadiseinc.com/ You can take a trip to the Everglades if you want a full day out. Long drive, or take a tour with Everglades Day Safari www.ecosafari.com
Biking is safest on Sanibel where%26#39;s there 24 miles of bike paths. You can park at any of the public beach access points and ride from there - including the one at Blind Pass where Sanibel and Captiva meet. It%26#39;s only about 4 miles from the resort entrance. You can bike around the resort, but after that you have to ride in the road on Captiva and they have accidents every year, so please BE CAREFUL. I see families biking on Captiva and I find I always hold my breath till I%26#39;m past them. Don%26#39;t be surprised if drivers get impatient. The road has no shoulder and nowhere for bikes or even pedestrians so things can get a bit tight.

Thank you so much for your response. We are very excited. After reading the posts here, I am a little leary about the location of the Bayside Villas. I guess we should be fine since we have our own cars and bikes.
Thank you so much for the recommendations for the day trips and bike trips.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
