We%26#39;re here and already I%26#39;ve become a delicacy for the no-see-ums. Itching like crazy which is keeping me up at night. Any suggestions on what to use to get some relief? Tried Benadryl cream and tablets but didn%26#39;t help much. Have moved on to cortisone 1% cream...we%26#39;ll see if that works. Any remedies?
On a happier note we went to Stock Island and had lunch at Hurricane Joe%26#39;s and it was excellent!
Thanks!
No-See-Ums
Eucalyptus oil.
You can get it at Sugar Apple healthfood, I believe.
The address is 917 Simonton St, and the phone is (305) 292-0043.
Cautionary note. Some people are dreadfully allergic. If the bites turn to sores, seek medical treatment asap, alright?
No-See-Ums
Drinks.
Glad you had a good lunch, I love H. Joe%26#39;s
Thanks guys! Not going to let it get me down. There%26#39;s too much fun to be had while we%26#39;re here. I%26#39;ll keep an eye on them and seek medical advice if they get worse. Going to talk to the front desk as this is a recurring problem:-)
To keep from getting bit try Avon%26#39;s Skin So Soft Bug Repellent. I think you can get it at the drugstores now adays. You might also try Caladryl lotion for the itching. (It%26#39;s like Calamine lotion but clear instead of pink) Or as previous poster said, enough drinks and you won%26#39;t feel a thing!
They are most active at/before sunset when the ground temp and the air temp become closer together. I know it%26#39;s hard to think about unless you live here or have been here a while, but try to stay behind screens at this time, or be upstairs, like at Rooftop or any upper area, where they aren%26#39;t as bad.
