Is this a good idea?

My family is eagerly looking forward to KW on July 16th. Our group consists of husband and myself, 2 daughters ages 17 and 18, oldest daughter age 21 plus two of her friends, both over 21. We are staying at the Southernmost Point Guest House. The older girls are quite used to going to bars with friends here at home and I assumed they would want to on vacation which is one of the reasons we chose KW instead of some other Florida beach community. Here%26#39;s my question: When they leave whatever bar they%26#39;re at, somewhere around 1-2 and walk back to our rental, will the streets still be crowded with people or will they be mostly alone? I don%26#39;t imagine that husband and I will be with them as we%26#39;ll be doing something else with other 2 daughters. Thanks for the help. Marcia

Key West is a very safe town, all things considered... Have them stay on Duval... Good idea #3

Now, gauge thier maturity level and I think it%26#39;ll be just fine. While we do have, from time to time, a bit of trouble, it%26#39;s pretty rare! We also have a great police force and they are out and about in the evenings.

At 1-2am there will still be people on the streets. But since I%26#39;m thinking that most of the places 21 year old girls would want to go will be on Lower Duval (100, 200, 300 blocks) and you are staying at the other end they may just want to hop a cab. The fare won%26#39;t be that much. We don%26#39;t have a lot of crime here but the later at night it gets the more likely they are to run into an obnoxious drunk.

While Seabus is correct, kwkat has hit the nail on the head. The taxi fare is VERY cheap nd good insurance for them.

$5-6 on the meter for all of them. The driver may try to go for $2.50pp, and that%26#39;s a fair price at that time of night, but if they stick to their guns it%26#39;s about $6.
