Grand Floridian vs Dis Beach Resort w/kids

We are going to do the Disney Parks in late Nov. with three kids (8,6,3) and I need some input on whether the Grand Floridian or Disneys Beach Resort would be better. First let me say the we have stayed that Port Orleans and I was NOT impressed so the mid level disney hotels ar not an option. It is obvious that the Grand Floridian is much more luxurious (and expensive!) but I am wondering if children are really as welcome there? We would be going there,no question, if it was just my husband and I. I have heard great things about the pool area at the Beach Resort and we will be out of our room most of the time so I am leaning that way. However I do not want to spend 7 days in a moldy smelling room with threadbare carpet. Anyone have any upgrade suggestions for the Beach Resort? Rooms types to avoid?

Looking forward to your opinions!

Grand Floridian vs Dis Beach Resort w/kids

Hello threegirlsomom,

Children are indeed very welcome at the Grand Floridian and it%26#39;s a beautiful resort however our family favors the Yacht and Beach Club. You can%26#39;t beat the location as your within walking distance to Epcot and a boat ride away from MGM Studios. It%26#39;s so pretty in the evenings to take strolls along the Boardwalk area complete with restaurants surrounding a pretty lake. Your children will love the 3 acre sand bottom pool complete with a sand area for your little one to play. We prefer staying in the villas and would be perfect for a family your size. The standard rooms at the Grand Floridian and the Beach Club would be a bit small for a family of 5 but not as small as the Port Orleans. Check out www.allearsnet.com for pictures.

I totally agree with the previous poster; Disney%26#39;s Beach Club has it all as far as I am concerned; Yacht Club is a 2nd choice. You simply cannot beat the pool, location, array of restaurants to choose from, and good walking areas; (I know, people complain about the walking after being in the parks, but walking around at night, slowly, is a lot of fun-looking at the gardens, people, pools, lights, boats etc.)I would also stay in one of the newer villas at the Beach Club, that way you have a kitchen/laundry area if you so choose. I do think GF is more for adults on average. Have fun!

Of course your children are welcome at the GF and if you are going to spend money on a deluxe resort, this one is far better than the Yacht or Beach Club. You are probably going to spend most of your time at the MK and you cannot beat the convenience of the monorail. and the GF has a zero entry pool which is wonderful with children. The pool at the Yacht and Beach Club is very nice but IMHO,the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Better to be able to watch the MK firewworkds from your balcony at the GF.
