I plan on making my 2nd visit to SOBE during labor day weekend. Last time I visited SOBE, I stayed in a hotel further north which required a cab ride everywhere. This time around, I%26#39;d like to stay relatively close to SOBE.
Has anyone stayed in the Ocean Five Hotel? Thoughts? Based on the reviews on tripadvisor, most people have only good things to say about it and it%26#39;s relatively affordable, close to the beach, restaurants and nightlife.
Any other suggestions on a hotel near SOBE that%26#39;s comparable to Ocean Five? (i.e. close to the beach, walking distance to restaurants, etc)
Thanks

Second visit to SOBE, suggestions appreciated.
I would suggest hotels a little further north, say 12-1400 block. I think they%26#39;re more centrally located and it%26#39;s easier to walk to more places, i.e. Lincoln, etc.
The Beachcomber is probably in the same price range as Ocean Five, or check prices for the Nassau Suites or Crescent (my favorite place to stay on Ocean drive).
This is just my opinion, but I stayed at the Bentley last winter, which is near Ocean Five, and I found that I like staying near the 1400 block better.
Hope this helps you a bit...

Best bet for a well located hotel that is not a tarted up rat hole
and reasonable(sbout$100 or so) is the Century right on Ocean
Drive below fifth or further north at about 18th and Washington
would be the Cadet( I inspected it) and it has a lot of style with
a price of about$115 on Labor Day weekend. If you
want a pool and beach location Expedia is selling the Royal Palm for about $175. You might want to book something nice that
can be canceled and see what promotions or specials come up
a week before you go. If you can afford $199 than a
very promising luxury hotel two blocks from Tenth and Ocean
would be the Angler which will soon be double that price.
My take on the reviews of the Angler is that they are
credible.
Thanks for the suggestions. We decided to book at the South Seas Hotel which is close to the beach and walking distance to everything.
With that all set, any suggestions on some places to go at night? I%26#39;ve already gone to Mangos, the Clevelander, Wet Willies, etc. Being from NYC, I always have to deal with the velvet rope so I%26#39;d rather stay away from that if possible. Any suggestions on places to go that doesn%26#39;t require you to buy 2 bottles, tipping the bouncer and pay an entry fee?
I%26#39;ve checked out the following site but can%26#39;t come to a conclusion. Any personal experience on places would be appreciated.

Automatic-Slims sounds interesting, any thoughts?
Thanks!

I%26#39;ve heard good things about automatic slims.
