Question about humidity..

I鈥檓 sorry for yet another weather question! We are going to be in Orlando for the last two weeks in August, we were previously there in the first two weeks of June. I am prepared for the intense heat but am beginning to worry about the humidity. Would it be considered humid in June (we found the weather fine) or can we expect it to be a lot more humid in August. Also, does high humidity make the heat feel a lot more oppressive?

Question about humidity..

Hi, it is likely to be a lot more humid in August than June.

In humidity, heat is more oppressive. Have you ever been in a stream room (wet steamy heat) and a sauna (dry heat)? You sweat more and a lower heat is more oppresive in the steam room.

It is important to wear cool, loose clothing. Seek shade and cool air-conditioning where-ever possible (especially if you feel headachey) and have plenty to drink (I would recommend carrying water bottles with you and keep sipping from them - don%26#39;t wait until you are thirsty to drink, by then you are already dehydrated). Keep a special eye on children - make sure they get plenty of rest, are keeping cool and drink regularly...

Question about humidity..

Humidity in Orlando in August is very high and can be bad at 6:00 AM even. Staying hydrated is very important, as you will sweat like you probably never have before.

Hi,

We wnt in August 2005 and are going around the same time as yourself this year (15th Aug-1st Sept).

Although it was very humid, we just took things easy and didn%26#39;t try to thrash around all of the rises in all of the parks. Plenty of stops for shows in air-conditioned buildings and plenty of water made it quite bearable.

Thank you for all your replies, this will be my first experiance of %26#39;real%26#39; humidity, so hopefully I will live to tell the tale (i.e. a trip report when I get home!)

We went to Orlando in August last year. I was horrified when we stepped out of the airport as it was like walking into the tropical house ina zoo and I thought %26#39;my god%26#39; I%26#39;ll never be able to cope with this!

However, your body seems to adjust very quickly and you don%26#39;t notice it so much. It is very hot and you will sweat a great deal but as long as you pace yourself and take on fluid regularly, you should be fine!!

We come every August and it is so hot and humid from abour 12pm-6pm just awful the thermostat in my truck would read 105 degrees sometimes the humidity is awful so be prepared.

Went to Orlando in 2005 for the first 2 weeks in Aug the humidity was bad but like some of the others have said it is bareable. I didn%26#39;t think I would be able to make it around the parks but I adjusted very quickly. Made sure to have plenty of drinks pref water %26amp; not soda %26amp; to do all the indoor rides and shows when it is at its worst!. A good tip we were given by a cast member in MK was to wet a few hand towels with cold water %26amp; put them on the back of your neck to cool down quickly

Have a great time %26amp; thanks for replying to my post earlier we may bump into each other there

Drink lots of water-avoid soda and coffee, wear loose, loose clothes and take a midday break. It is very oppressive but manageable. If you can, take a break at midday,go back to your hotel and have a swim and lunch and then come back to the parks later in the day. This really will help you have a more enjoyable trip.

ncmc, I just returned from my trip (we were there last week). Not to get to TMI, but what we did starting day 2 was to rent a locker at the front of the park each day (it is $7.00 per day). We would put a change of clothes (including, socks, panties and bras). We were in the parks 10-12 hours and at about the half way mark, we would go back to the lockers and change into new clothes. This made a huge difference and allowed us to get through the rest of the day a little more comfortable.

I also had a small backpack to carry around. My hotel provided wash cloths and face clothes by the front doors, so I took one of each every day on the way out. It really helps when it%26#39;s incredibly hot and you can%26#39;t stop perspiring. I also carried wet wipes for hands (and cleaning off tables when eating at counter service places) as well as face wipes (ones without alcohol) to clean up a bit.

I bought shirts and socks from REI (www.rei.com) that are designed to wick away moisture and this helped a lot, too.

I found that since the rides are indoors and standing on line is also indoors for parts of it, you get a considerable break from the heat. There are also shows and short movies that are indoors, seated and air conditioned, which give you a nice break. I went and sat in the 18 minute movie on France just to sit in the a/c and check my email.

Thanks for some handy tips.

Sounds like the humidity we will experience in August will be like the 100% humidity we experienced in Thailand. You shower %26amp; go out %26amp; feel sweaty %26amp; horrible almost immediately!!
