where 2 stay w/ 2 kids

I need some suggestions as to where to stay in Orlando.....

I have 2 kids under 4 and looking for a nice affordable room w/ a small kitchenette or just fridge %26amp; microwave will do. We plan on going to Disney World, but also not sure where is the best place to go with little ones.

I know there are probably several forums that have already addressed this, but my time is limited. Any advice is greatly appreciated. We plan on traveling in early August for 4 nights.

Cheers!

Are you driving from Atlanta or flying down?

we will be driving....

Good; having a vehicle is a great advantage and gives you many more options.

If you are planning on spending a lot of your time at Disney, there are several moderately priced places in both east and west Kissimmee you can try.

You might even see if the value resorts at Disney will fit what you need. You can get a mini-fridge at the value resorts for about $10 extra per day. Staying on property gives you some really good advantages for Disney, including Extra Magic Hours and free transportation (you can park the car and never move it), free parking at the theme parks, and more.

I%26#39;m afraid if you try for a place with a full kitchen, you%26#39;ll have to pay a much higher price (well over $100 per night).

Many places outside of Disney offer a mini-fridge and if you could purchase a small microwave for traveling, that would take care of those needs. Another idea is a small hot plate (Wal-Mart has them for about $10).

I just booked a room at the Rodeway International on International Drive today. They offer mini-fridge and microwave in each room, but it%26#39;s located much closer to Universal than Disney.

What is your budget per night? We don%26#39;t want to rec something too high. look for a good zero entry pool, or good kiddies pool, and a free breakfast is you can.

In fact any one of the suite hotels in LBV would be good as they have at least a fridge/micro if not a full kitchen and many have breakfast too. That can save quite a bit per day.

thanks for the responses. our budget is around $100/night.

what parks do you recommend us going to? there appears to be several, but don%26#39;t want to waste my $$$ on parks that aren%26#39;t for a 3 %26amp; 4 year old.

As far as the Parks go, I would recomend Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, MGM and maybe Seaworld. I would leave Universal and Epcot for when the kids are abit older.

Disney has a Deal right now for the time you are going. Room rates at Value Resorts start at $59 and at Moderate Resorts at $99. You can check out the Offer at wdwinfo.com or mousesavers.com. You can get a fridge and use the microwave at the food courts at Disnay Resorts. With the Deal, you can be right in the middle of the Magic.

I was researching budget hotels in the Walt Disney World area for our trip earlier this summer and there are several to choose from. I put together this list from several sources and then checked each location%26#39;s reviews at tripadvisor.com. Any hotels with a lot of negative reviews or any hotel without recent (2007) reviews was excluded from the list. The are not listed in any particular order - I just added a hotel when I found a good rate and it had okay reviews. The rates below give an idea of what we would%26#39;ve paid in late May / early June.

Are you wondering where we actually did stay? We started out with a reservation at the Seralago because it could accomodate a family of six in one room and had kitchenettes.

But we ended up getting a great rate at a condo in Windsor Hills - see http://www.tonylopes.com/wh.htm. It was a little more but we got a lot more space and a full kitchen.

Try Doubletree suites in LBV(DTDisney) or Cypress Pointe condos. Both under $100 per night.

But the special offer for a mod Disney for 99/night is a good one if you are only doing the Disney thing.

I too rec MK, AK and MGM for you little ones. Plus I%26#39;d add a waterpark, preferably Typhoon Lagoon.

ajcolorado,

I know what you mean. We%26#39;re a fam of five and no longer stay in hotels most of the time- we tend to go condo too.
