Buying a camcorder in Orlando

I saw a great little camcorder on QVC on Sunday. By the time I decided to buy it, it was out of stock. It%26#39;s an Aiptek 720P High Definition mini camcorder which records onto a 2gb SD memory card. It is now 拢242 with p%26amp;p of 拢5 or so, but there%26#39;s a waiting list for it. . I%26#39;ve googled it and found it at %26#39;Best Buy%26#39; who have a store in the Florida Mall. The price is $299 with lots of extra free accessories. Has anyone out there bought items from this shop before, and what did you think of it?

Good or bad, I%26#39;d rather know before I part with my hard earned cash!

Thanks, Deaconblue

Not sure about that one but you could check out the Walmart Supercenter as they often have some good deals. Would NOT recommend buying from one of the shops on I Drive.

Best Buy, not a shop, a giant chain.

Wal- Mart is a great place to shop too.

We buy all our electronics at Best Buy. You will not be sorry, great company just as good as Wal-mart.

Florida Mall is worth the trip even if you don%26#39;t buy anything.

Definitey do not buy one on I-drive.

Sounds like you were lucky not to have bought it on QVC, you will save $. You will pay 7% sales tax.

walmart.com bestbuy.com to get current prices. You can order online, pay with a credit card and pick up at the store.

Thanks guys. I knew someone on here would give me the right info. I have already checked Walmart and they don%26#39;t keep this model yet. It is very new. Looks to be a great bit of kit and Best Buys are offering it with free extras. Can%26#39;t be bad! Target have it, but only online, not in store. I%26#39;ll check out Best Buy in the Florida Mall. I would never buy from anywhere that looked a bit %26#39;shady%26#39;. A friend of mine bought what he thought was a bargain camcorder in Gran Canaria (on his last day). When he got it home all that was in the box was a dummy display model!

He-who-must-be-fed works too hard for me spend his money carelessly!!

Thanks again,

Deaconblue

';He who must be fed';.

Would that be any relation of ';She who must be obeyed';?

D,

check if you can buy at Target, but pick up in store.

Of course it is. I have also, on occasions, been referred to as her-indoors, my little swamp duck and the current favourite is my little chucklebunny! Sad to say, there is nothing %26#39;little%26#39; about me!

On the other hand, he-who-must-be fed, is extremely aptly named!

Thanks amnax, I%26#39;ll check that out tomorrow. Eyes getting a bit tired right now and I might see too many $ signs!

Deconblue; I have bought a number of cameras over the years in the US There%26#39;s only one problem i have ever found and that is you need to buy a and adaptor for the charge lead that converts to plug from the americian type to the British 13 amp 3 pin system,

Most if not all cameras are supplied with a auto detecting voltage charger. so you only need change the pins, you can cut off to plug and just wire a 13 amp plug on it , but then if you take it back to the states you still need an adapter.

Best Buy and Ritz cameras are national chains so you OK buying from them . Lots of the other camera shops on I Drive and 192 you need to keep away from.

There is a Ritz camera shop on Sand Lake road just across form Florida mall. you are likely to get a good deal form the 2 camera shops in Lake Buena Vist Outlets Mall on535.

I am not that sure i would be tempted to buy this model ( but i dont know the spec or the manufacture). I would be more inclined to steer you to Sony Panasonic, Cannon JVC.

All these make ';Broadcast Quality '; cameras . I am not that sure i would buy a DVD or SD model either . But must admit dont know enough about them.

You need to look at how much recording time a 2gb SD card will do. It would nee do do 1 hour for me on max resolution before i would consider it Cos you can buy a mini tape one like the professionals use for much less, record more. still record a digital signal . reuse the tapes as often as you like.

And if you want a professional to make you a video tape or DVD you will be working in the same medium as them , so this would be easy.

I could have bought My Panasonic Lumix TZ3 off the Best Buys web site But when shipped to Britian customs in Britain would have stung it for import duty %26amp;VAT.

They would not send me one to one of their shops for me to pick up while i was on holiday there . so I bought one from Ritz cameras on Sand Lake road. Camera shops in this country didnt know what i was talking about when asked , now i see thet advertised it on TV Don%26#39;t know how much the are asking here but I paid $299 for mine (拢150)

If this company you saw on QVC were making hobby HD cameras you can bet the manufactures mentioned above are also doing so. And i would go with them rather than an unknown nondescript. . But the choice is yours.

Check out www.pricegrabber.com and enter the name or model number in the search bar. It will show almost every major store %26amp; website that sells the item and their price.

I just bought a Panasonic 30GB hard disk camera %26amp; am very pleased. In fact, the store where I purchased it also matches the lowest price offered (from legitimate stores not online fly-by-night companies). While in the store, I wandered over to their customer-use computer %26amp; searched pricegrabber %26amp; found the camera for $150 less! They matched it!

Good luck,

SeaBass
