ANIBEL INDEPENDENCE DAY

FESTIVITIES AND PARADE ROAD CLOSURES

Due to the 2007 Sanibel Independence Day Parade, the following roads will be closed beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 until approximately 11:00 a.m.:

Tarpon Bay Road between West Gulf Drive and Periwinkle Way

Periwinkle Way between Casa Ybel Road and Tarpon Bay Road

*

Portions of Dunlop Road and Palm Ridge Road

*

Periwinkle Way from Donax Road to Dixie Beach Road open for local traffic only

The roads will reopen immediately following the parade. If you have any questions regarding the road closings, please contact the Sanibel Police Department at (239) 472- 3111.

FIREWORKS INFO:

The City of Sanibel will host the annual fireworks display beginning at dusk on Wednesday, July 4th, 2007. The fireworks will be launched from the end of Bailey Road. Best viewing of the display will be from the bay side of Sanibel and along the Sanibel Causeway. Please be reminded that due to construction on the Causeway, parking is limited. Reminder -- possession and discharge of fireworks are prohibited on Sanibel Island and the Causeway. Do Enjoy - Don%26#39;t Destroy.

Sanibel really does 4th of July up in a big way. The parade is huge and more and more people are coming back every year to experience this small town celebration.

9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.- Edison Estates Open- ';Young Mr. Edison will be available for ongoing tours from 12-4p.m. (Located on McGregor Blvd.)
