Last minute Advice?

1) Loews charges $10 for 12h of internet. Is there an internet cafe in the area with better rates (I%26#39;ve seen Burger Kings with free internet). I%26#39;d rather not bring a laptop.

2) What places should we avoid if we do not want to hear ';Sorry, you%26#39;re not fabulous enough to come in here.';

3) We are two 32 year old guys and will be there Sat 23rd - Sun 1st. Is there any bars/pubs/nightclubs that are known for being great on a Sunday- Monday- Tuesday- or Wednesday-night? (I figured Thursday to Saturday nights will be %26#39;easy%26#39;).

I like places that make me really feel like I%26#39;m in Miami. Sure, Mangoes is %26#39;touristy%26#39;, but the music, the walls, the uniforms, and the demographics make me feel like I%26#39;m very far from Philly. I also loved the area ';Spanish Village';(?), and I%26#39;m looking forward to trying Nikki Beach (thanks to advice from these posts). I thought the Cleavlander was good, but it didn%26#39;t really have much of a Miami feel to it (after a few drinks someone could have convinced me I was in Cleavland Ohio).

4) We will probably go to Parrot/Monkey Island. Anyone care to suggest ANY other places that you feel would be a real shame to leave Miami without visiting whether it%26#39;s ';here for ice cream';, ';there for a sandwich';, etc.? If it%26#39;s worth it, we%26#39;d even go %26#39;all the way%26#39; over to the main land.

5) Are ther any restaurants/bars that sit you out by a tropical, lazy lagoon?

Thanks in advance!

Last minute Advice?

You are right that Mangos is a fabulous place and even though it is over the top, it is great.

My wife and I really enjoyed B.E.D. for dinner and drinks. It is very Miami. Hanging out at the Delano was lots of fun as well. Of course it is extremely posh, but shockingly very little attitude. Just great people watching.

Last minute Advice?

I%26#39;ve read those places (B.E.D. and Delano) are fancy. We are there a long time, maybe we%26#39;ll play dress-up and check those places out some night.

Thanks Spacecoast!

Holy Crap!!!!! That was VERY useful!!!!

And a lot of work for you - I appreciate it very much! I will print this out and bring it with me.

2) Not me, so I was wondering if there was a way to know in advance which places are most likely to snub %26#39;regular folks%26#39;. If we just avoid the places that literally have a %26#39;rope%26#39;, is it pretty safe to say we could avoid wasting time waiting in line only to get laughed at?

Edd.

All places have the possibility of snubbing you and you never know why. My fabulous hairdresser to the stars went to the delano and they were downright rude to him so bad that he left. I am a completely uncool sububan poorly dressed housewife and they treated me like a queen. You never know. Its off season and i%26#39;m sure most places need the business. Just pick several clubs, wait for a while if you feel an atitude leave and try another. Another alternative is time out miami lists a section on going to fabulous hotel bars. I don%26#39;t think that there is any exclusion here and they are sometimes more fabulous and more intmate than night clubs, you may give that a try.

Also for outings. parrot jungle and monkey jungle are two different places. parrot jungle is right next to miami beach and monkey jungle is very far south of miami. Both are terrific, but you probably don%26#39;t want to drive to monkey jungle unless there%26#39;s something else there you want to do. theres a zoo, seaquarium, science and art museum and art galleries as well. Miami is emerging as a sort of art hot spot but i don%26#39;t kow a lot about it. Also here are amazing intereior design stores in a certain district as well. finally sawgrass mill mall is the bigest outlet mall in the world, but I have really mixed feelings. that all being said, the beaches are first class and you probably should pick one activity then enjoy the sun.

Me and my gal are spending a few days unwinding after a cruise at the Park Central on Ocean. We are nice cool people in our 30%26#39;s, but probably not the hip happening rope people. We want to avoid any place with a tude.

Thanks for the list.

I am supposed to be in Miami with my 16 yr old daughter in Aug but the recent weather reports do not look promising.

How much rain does Miami really get?

Is there any sun?

It rains a lot less on the beach than on the mainland, and if it does rain all-day washouts are rare. The thunderstorms if they happen USUALLY happen later in the afternoons - and only for a while..

AG, were you at Tobacco Road Saturday night? I was going to say hi and thank you, but was not sure it was you.

TRIP COMMENTS:

- About ';The Rope'; - It seems the door policy at the %26#39;hot spots%26#39; is pretty simple: for the most part, if you are guys with no women, you can get in with bottle service only. We had ';preferred guest'; passes from our concierge for The Mansion, so we waited in the regular line (that is, not the 2nd line that was forming with the 15- to 23-year-old kids pilling out of the Hummers - this line was moving much faster) for 40minutes. We made it past the rope and to the register at 12:07 and paid $20 each because the passes were only good until midnight. Fit, good looking, well-dressed women are pulled out of line and escorted in. We were behind a group of 5 women and 3 of them were (to put it as politely as possible) at least 30 pounds overweight. I don%26#39;t think they were going to get in. They stood at the front of the stalled slow line and watched dozens get in from the other line. They asked to be let out of line to leave, and then we (standing right behind them) were immediately allowed in.

On Sunday night at Nikki Beach, a stranger (that claimed he worked at another club) approached us and said he could get the two of us in Pearl for $50 total and we didn%26#39;t have to pay until inside. We got in and it was very interesting.

What%26#39;s the deal with the Hummers unloading 5-15 people at a time to the front of these clubs?

People were handing out Mansion wrist bands on the street, but they seemed to be useless? Are they?
