Help!!! Is there much to do near St Pete Beach?

My bf and I would like to stay on a nice beach with plenty of things to do other than the beach. The main thing of interest outside of beach life would be shopping, amusement parks, or zoo%26#39;s. I have heard mixed reviews on St Pete beach...some saying their isn%26#39;t much to do. We will be staying for 1 week, and I don%26#39;t want to be bored. Thanks for replies.

You will need a car to get around. Consult your Google Gods for things to do in and around St. Petersburg Beach. The Lowery Park zoo in Tampa is about 30 minutes away. Ybor City night life, also in Tampa, is about 30 minutes away. Likewise for Busch Gardens.

I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll get bored (sounds like you%26#39;re going to need a car though). Shopping and eats at Johns Pass in Treasure Island. Shopping at The Pier, and in downtown St. Pete. Casino Cruz out of Johns Pass. Shops at Ellenton Prime Outlets.

Visit Clearwater Beach, Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Caladesi Island, or the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs to the North of St. Pete Beach.

Busch Gardens is just a 30-45 minute drive. We went and tried the new coaster, Shiekra, wow. They have a promotion all summer long if you go one day, get your ticket validated and you can come back a second day for free. There is Fort De Soto beach if your bf is into war history and the beach there is unreal, just beautiful. Musems, zoos, plenty of dolphin and dinner cruises, boat or waverunner rentals. Shopping is everywhere. Have a good time!

Thanks everyone for the quick responses!
