My boyfriend and I are trying to plan a little getaway the second weekend in September. We%26#39;re from New Orleans and wanted to go somewhere fun outside the city. Pensacola was one of the options that stood out to us, but I need help in choosing a hotel, etc. I looked at the Portofino Resort, but it seems pretty family oriented, or at least that was the impression I got. They offer very nice accomodations, but they%26#39;re 2 bedroom suites, and we don%26#39;t need that much room. Other suggestions? Destin is also an option, but Pensacola%26#39;s closer. Any input or ideas?
Romantic Weekend Getaway
I would try one of the big motels on p-cola beach. It should not be that busy at that time of the year.
Destin is about 1 1/2 hours farther, but the beachs are much whiter and water is bluer. More things to see/do than p-cola, if that is what you want to do..
Gulf shores Al may be another option to consider. closer and has quite a number of thing to do/see.

Check into Emerald Isle on Pensacola Beach. It%26#39;s a high-rise like Portofino but in a much better location. You%26#39;ll be able to walk to restaurants, shops, etc. and still be directly on the Gulf.
The Pensacola Grand Hotel is now open for business again, after Ivan restorations. It is located in downtown Pensacola near fabulous restaraunts and nightlife, unless you absolutely want the beach, this is a good alternative. I think there is even a nice martini bar in the lobby.
